Geon Dakar GNX 250 Motorcycle Expands Geon's Flagship Enduro Line
The motorcycle is equipped with the same power unit as the previous model.
The powertrain is a common element that unites both versions of the Dakar. But he will also drive the bike differently thanks to the new carburetor - the Japanese NIMOTA is installed on Geon for the first time, but it will definitely be included in the list of in-demand components.
The Japanese NIMOTA carburetor is highly efficient. It helps to accelerate smoothly at the very start and smoothes the curves of power and torque growth as much as possible. The motorcycle accelerates quickly on a straight 250 cc engine - the main thing is not to hesitate to manipulate the gear shift pad and the throttle stick.
Plus, GNX owners will have a different feel for engine kickback thanks to the large rear sprockets with 52 teeth! The sprockets are made of anodized milled aluminum. The guiding star is still 13 teeth.
Cooling of the engine, as it should be at a high level - 2 radiators, protected by durable shutters. The liquid cooling hoses not only have an interesting color - the silicone pipes of the cooling system have several layers of reinforcement - they are stronger and more reliable, and the silicone itself resists aggressive media better than rubber. This means that these pipes will last longer and withstand more "adventures" than standard rubber pipes.
The main difference of the new generation is the chromium-molybdenum frame.
Firstly, this type of frame is more maintainable, since it allows you to weld, repair, maintain, change. Given the specifics of tough exploitation, such an advantage is important for many.
Secondly, such a frame is lighter, which is also difficult to overestimate in extreme conditions of enduro drives.
GEON is still following the path of maximum weight reduction - for this, a large number of milled aluminum components were installed on the motorcycle: cross-arms and handlebar mounts, hubs and rear sprocket, front brake and clutch levers. And also made of aluminum are the rear brake pedal, gearshift foot, progression levers and the pendulum itself, hand protectors and wheel rims, a stretcher and footrests, a steering wheel.
The gel battery was replaced with a lithium-ion battery with a reduced weight. Thanks to all the efforts, the dry weight of the motorcycle was reduced to 108 kg. And in general, the device has become a little more compact.
The light weight of the crossheads and the reduction in unsprung masses not only positively affected the handling of the bike, but also increased the efficiency of the motorcycle working out bumps and stability at high speeds.
Although, of course, the lion's share of the responsibility for working out irregularities lies with the shock absorbers. And here they are, as befits the Dakar series, installed in the maximum configuration with all adjustments. At the front are powerful Taiwanese inverted shock absorbers with a diameter of 47mm. Rear gas-oil shock absorber with external reservoir (backpack type). In synergy with linkage progression, it provides maximum monoshock and rear suspension performance.
The new Fastace fork also allows the bike to "shed" weight and gives quick access to suspension tuning.
The pressure in the suspensions can be adjusted - pump up or vice versa. The standard suspension adjustments are enough even for an average enduro professional in terms of training and practice. The stocks of the fork feathers are hidden from dirt by large protective "burdocks".
The gearbox, as before, is 6-speed. Transmissions are included clearly, without extraneous sounds and false "neutrals". The first gear is short - it allows you to powerfully rake the soil and not stall. The moment is then transmitted to the star using the famous AFAM size 520 chain. The sliders and chain catcher are made of durable wear-resistant material, have a thoughtful efficient shape and fit well into the overall exterior of the motorcycle.
Another upgrade that immediately catches your eye is the exhaust system resonator, the "megabombs" as it is often called. It effectively adds low end and improves engine performance. The muffler is also made of lightweight materials and welded with neat "argon" seams. Not only looks good, but effectively complements the exhaust system.
By the way, the resonator also affects fuel consumption - although not much, it does. And a fuel tank with a volume of 9 liters will allow you to forget about refueling for a long time, which is very important in conditions of walks in the wild.
